Cash on Delivery in Libya: How Collection Works and How the Money Reaches the Merchant

The COD order journey in Libya step by step: confirmation, delivery, collection, settlement statement and weekly settlement, and how to avoid fake orders.

Cash on delivery (COD) means the customer pays the delivery driver for the order at the door. When you sell in another country, the merchant's first question becomes: "How do I make sure the money reaches me?" This article explains the COD order journey in Libya from click to transfer, and what protects you at each stage.

The order and money journey, step by step

  1. The order reaches us automatically from your connected store, or from Google Sheets or an Excel file.
  2. The sales team calls the customer, confirms the order and increases its value where possible. An unconfirmed order never leaves the warehouse.
  3. We prepare and deliver the order. The customer gets an automatic message as soon as the order goes out for delivery.
  4. The delivery driver hands over the order and collects payment from the customer at the door.
  5. The collection is logged in the system and you see it in your dashboard: every delivered order and every amount collected.
  6. The settlement statement appears in your dashboard before the money reaches you, so you can check it yourself.
  7. We transfer your dues once or twice a week depending on volume.

We deliver with COD to 100% of the areas we operate in, and ready online payment gateways are also available for those who want them.

Three worries every merchant has

Fake or non-serious orders

A customer who fills in the order form out of curiosity or by mistake is the biggest source of wasted budget in COD. That is why no order leaves until someone from the sales team has called the customer. The team is trained on your product and on persuasion, so it doesn't just confirm: it increases the order value and keeps serving the customer after delivery.

Refused delivery or failed delivery

The customer may not be home, or their circumstances may change. When the first attempt fails, the follow-up team steps in immediately with the customer and the delivery driver until the next attempt succeeds, instead of the order coming back as a return at the first obstacle. This raises the delivery rate, the indicator that decides your real profit.

Delayed or unclear money

This is where transparency comes in: you don't wait for a message saying the amount was transferred. Every order, collection, commission and settlement is in front of you in the dashboard, and the settlement statement reaches you first. What you see in the dashboard is what will reach you.

What do you see in your dashboard?

  • Orders and their statuses moment by moment, from "new" to "confirmed", then "out for delivery", then "delivered", then "settled".
  • Inventory in real time in our warehouses.
  • Collections, commissions and settlements.
  • Settlement statements and financial reports.

And if you have your own system, there is an API and a Webhook to connect it.

The two rates that decide your result

  • Confirmation rate: how many of the incoming orders the customer actually confirmed by phone.
  • Delivery rate: how many of the confirmed orders reached the customer and had their payment collected.

We don't promise a general figure because the two rates differ from product to product, offer to offer and campaign to campaign. That is why we start with a small market test that shows both rates for your own product, and then you decide the size of the big shipment from the numbers.

How can you raise the delivery rate from your side?

A large part of the delivery rate is decided before the order reaches us, on the sales page itself:

  • Clear pricing: make the price the customer sees the price they will pay, with no surprises at the door.
  • Accurate product description: a customer who knows what they will receive doesn't refuse it at the door.
  • A correct phone number and address: ask the customer for clear details, since the call is the first step of confirmation.
  • An understandable offer: complicated offers produce more inquiries and cancellations.

Our teams handle the rest of the chain: confirmation by phone, then delivery follow-up, then collection.

Plan your cash flow

COD means your money doesn't arrive on the day of the order. Between the moment you spend on ads and the moment your dues arrive, you pass through confirmation, delivery, collection and settlement. So we recommend two things:

  • Work out your working capital: how much you spend on ads and inventory before your first settlement comes back to you.
  • Start at a volume you can carry: a test shipment and a limited campaign give you the full cycle before you double your spend.

The shorter and more frequent the settlement cycle, the less pressure on your capital. That is why we transfer once or twice a week depending on volume.

Questions to ask any partner who collects money for you

  1. How often do you transfer dues, and on what day?
  2. Do I see a detailed settlement statement for each order before the money reaches me?
  3. What is the transfer method and currency, and are there transfer fees?
  4. Who bears responsibility for the amount after it is collected from the customer and before it reaches me?
  5. How are returns and undelivered orders accounted for?
  6. Is the service price tied to an order that arrived and was collected, or to every order that leaves the warehouse?

Ask, and write the answers into the contract before you sign. Never accept a verbal promise on a matter that concerns your money.

How do we handle these questions?

We transfer your dues once or twice a week, with a settlement statement that appears in your dashboard first. You pay only for the order that arrived and was collected: no subscription, no minimum, and no returns fees. And your data is protected by a non-disclosure agreement (NDA): your brand, your customers and your numbers are yours alone.
