How to Enter the Libyan Market from Egypt: A Step-by-Step Merchant Guide

From choosing a product to your first delivered order: how to enter the Libyan market from Egypt or the Gulf with no office or local team.

You sell online in Egypt or the Gulf, your ads are working, and your store is growing. Then you look at Libya and ask: do I open an office there? Hire a team? Who clears the goods through customs? Who makes sure the money reaches me? These questions stop a lot of merchants before they start. The practical answer is simpler than it looks, as long as you know the steps and put them in order.

This guide walks through the whole path from choosing a product to your first delivered order, the way we work at Dopamex.

What usually stops merchants?

When we talk to merchants, we hear the same barriers every time:

  • Shipping and customs: who moves the goods, who pays the duties, and who handles the paperwork and registration.
  • Warehouse and inventory: where the goods are kept, and how you know how much is left.
  • Order confirmation: fake or non-serious orders can eat your stock and your ad budget.
  • Delivery and collection: who delivers to each area, and who collects payment from the customer.
  • Getting paid: when the money reaches you, and with what settlement statement.

If you handle each of these through a different party, you end up coordinating a shipping company, a customs broker, a warehouse and a delivery company, and calling four parties when one order goes wrong. It is better to deal with one party that takes responsibility from door to door.

Step 1: Start with a product that has already proven itself for you

Don't start with your whole catalog. Pick one or two products whose ads work and that already sell in your current market. In the first phase the goal is to learn how the new market reacts to a product you know well, not to bet all your inventory.

Step 2: Test a small market before the big shipment

We start every partnership with a market test: a limited shipment and a real campaign, run by our marketers or yours. The test shows the real confirmation rate and delivery rate for your product, and you then decide the size of the big shipment from the numbers, not from guesswork. It is the cheapest way to find out whether the product suits the market before you lock your capital into a large stock.

Step 3: Import and clearance under DDP

Under DDP, the goods arrive at their destination delivered and duty paid. At Dopamex we collect your goods from the door of your warehouse in your own country and handle transport, customs, registration and all the paperwork. You don't deal with a shipping company or a customs broker. If you want to understand the cost items in detail, read the guide to shipping and customs under DDP to Libya.

Step 4: Storage and connecting your store

Your goods arrive at our licensed, climate-controlled, equipped warehouses and are logged in your dashboard piece by piece. You connect your store to the system so it receives your orders automatically: Shopify, WooCommerce, YouCan, LightFunnels, EasyOrders, any custom store through the API, Google Sheets, or an Excel file. Your team keeps selling as it does today, and the orders flow to us.

Step 5: Confirmation, delivery and collection

This is where the new market is won or lost. A sales team trained on your product calls every customer, confirms the order and increases its value, and an unconfirmed order never leaves the warehouse. After that we deliver, with cash on delivery (COD) or through ready payment gateways, to 100% of the areas we operate in. The customer gets an automatic message as soon as the order goes out for delivery, and the follow-up team steps in with the customer and the delivery driver the moment a first attempt fails, until delivery succeeds. For collection details, read the guide to cash on delivery in Libya.

Step 6: Measure, then decide

Every order, every collection and every settlement is visible in your dashboard. We transfer your dues once or twice a week, with a settlement statement that appears in the dashboard before the money reaches you. When the real numbers are in, you decide: scale the shipment, adjust the offer, or change the product.

What should you prepare before you get in touch?

The clearer your picture is in your first message, the faster and more accurate our reply. Prepare these points:

  • The brand and product name, with photos and product details as shown in your store.
  • The quantity you have in mind for a test shipment, and the expected monthly orders if it works.
  • Your target selling price and the margin you can accept, so we know whether the math allows scaling.
  • How you receive orders today: a connected store, a spreadsheet or an Excel file.
  • Who will market: your team, or whether you need marketers who sell for you on commission.

Should I work with my own team or with marketers?

The choice isn't final. Many partners start with their own marketing team because it knows the product, then add marketers from our network who sell on commission per delivered order. And if your team can't market the product in the new market, you can make it available to our marketers at any time. What matters is that everyone is on the same system, so you see every order and every commission in one place.

Common mistakes worth avoiding

  1. Shipping a large quantity before testing. Your capital freezes in stock whose selling speed you don't know.
  2. Judging shipping by its price alone. What matters is the landed cost per unit after every item, not the price of the shipment alone.
  3. Leaving orders unconfirmed. An unconfirmed order means a risk of refused delivery and the cost of returns.
  4. Spreading responsibility across several parties. At the first problem you won't know who is responsible.
  5. Not knowing when the money arrives. Always ask for the settlement schedule and the form of the settlement statement before you sign.

How long does it take?

We commit to a first delivered order within 7 days of receiving your goods from the door of your warehouse. If the first delivered order hasn't arrived within 14 days, there are no fulfillment fees for the first month, and we write this promise into the contract.

What stays with you?

What you do best stays with you: the product and the marketing. We take care of the rest, and you pay per delivered order only, with no subscription, no minimum, and no storage, setup or returns fees. We accept 5 new brands a month in each open market, and Libya is open now, because every partner gets an account manager and full attention in their first month. Explore the partnership tiers or check the FAQ, or send us your brand and product name on WhatsApp and we will reply within 48 hours with a market test plan.
